ACTOR’S NIGHTMARE w/ Vance Gillis

Inspired by the classic acting school exercise of the same name, Actor's Nightmare pairs a scripted actor with an un-scripted improviser: the actor must follow their lines one by one, no matter what the improviser says or does; the improviser must use all their skills to figure out what’s going on and justify any discrepancies. It's an exciting, challenging form that's full of surprises... and perfect for players looking to bring more awareness to the stage.

PREREQUISITES:

At least two years of in-class improv experience (or equivalent). Stage and show experience is a must. If you are unsure if this includes you or your experience, please contact us.

ABOUT:

Vance Gillis is the artistic director of Mojo Comedy Co., the former Artistic Director of Montreal Improv Theatre and Education Director at Bad Dog Comedy Theatre in Toronto. He's also the producer of 50/50, an ongoing Actor's Nightmare-based comedy series since 2015. 50/50 has been performed to sellout audiences at Montreal Improv Festival, Combustion Festival (Toronto), Ottawa Improv Festival, Summer Fling and Just For Laughs, among others. 

PLEASE NOTE:

In order to offer the best class experience, we require registrants to be able to attend all these days/times they've registered for. Arrive 5 minutes before class begins in order to not disturb a class in session.

Once you register, you will wait to receive an INVOICE, within 24 hours. Once you receive the invoice you will have 24 hours to make your payment to secure your spot

We cannot accept credit cards or cheques, if you’d like to pay by cash, please let us know and we will arrange an appointment.

Mile End Improv is a safe space. Absolutely no abusive behaviour of any kind will be tolerated.

This is a commitment, and we expect those who register to attend the classes they’ve signed up for. Please be considerate; missing a class will affect the other participants and the delivery of the class material for everyone. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes.

Unfortunately, the studios are located on the second floor of the building.

Being a student at Mile End Improv allows you to attend the Every Thursday Improv Show for free during the weeks you are taking classes (if space allows!)
