Build or strengthen the foundations of your performance on stage! This class will focus on the scene as the base unit of improvisation. Explore the broad themes of play, world building and physical performance through workshops that will both challenge and delight you.

Where are we in terms of location in our scene? What is around us? What time period are we in? Can we use our environment to help guide us in our scene? Can we be inspired by where we are and the objects we find in it? Can we make those objects important to us? 

Over 4 weeks we'll practice creating and discovering our environments using curiosity and intent.  We'll work on acknowledging and interacting with what we know, thereby gaining a stronger grasp of where we are and how it affects us!

ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE w/ Vance Gillis

Inspired by the classic acting school exercise of the same name, Actor's Nightmare pairs a scripted actor with an un-scripted improviser: the actor must follow their lines one by one, no matter what the improviser says or does; the improviser must use all their skills to figure out what’s going on and justify any discrepancies. It's an exciting, challenging form that's full of surprises... and perfect for players looking to bring more awareness to the stage.
